CAE Design Manager

Requirements and Responsibilities
Manages the computer-aided engineering (CAE) function to support and optimize the design engineering process for complex products, components, or structures. Collaborates with engineering teams to provide CAE design, analysis, and modeling support. Reviews and evaluates layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, and adherence to design standards and protocols. Researches and recommends CAE tools to facilitate benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, and testing protocols. Evaluates project results and metrics to develop and implement improvements to design engineering capabilities. Assists with high-level product, component, or structure design planning and scheduling. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
