Requirements and Responsibilities

Truck Dispatch Manager manages dispatch operations to ensure timely and efficient service. Develops operating procedures and provides guidance and support to train and assist dispatchers. Being a Truck Dispatch Manager tracks deliveries via computer systems and monitors communication lines to assist with complex or immediate questions. Reviews driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data to ensure documentation, evaluate operations, and drive improvements. Additionally, Truck Dispatch Manager ensures dispatchers and drivers are educated and compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Truck Dispatch Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Truck Dispatch Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
