Requirements and Responsibilities

Risk Management Director directs and administers an organization's risk-management programs. Develops strategies, controls, and measures to monitor and mitigate the risk exposure of assets. Being a Risk Management Director monitors the effectiveness of procedures to identify points of improvement. Oversees the building of financial models to predict the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Additionally, Risk Management Director reviews risk analysis reports to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Promotes organization-wide understanding of risks and risk management strategies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Risk Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Risk Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
