Requirements and Responsibilities

Production Director oversees and directs operations of all production areas to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop overall production schedules, materials, and resource requirements to meet short and long-term production goals. Being a Production Director monitors shift production metrics to identify and resolve issues and develop process improvements and best practices. Plans maintenance, turnarounds, and downtime for efficiency and speed. Additionally, Production Director establishes staff training processes, equipment, gear, and tool requirements to comply with health and safety regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Production Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Production Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
