Requirements and Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager manages a mechanical engineering department designing parts, engines, tools, or other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. Designs, scopes, and develops new mechanical engineering initiatives and projects, and manages them through their life cycles. Being a Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager establishes programs to support training, process improvements, and the creation and maintenance of best practices and protocols. Leads initiatives with other departments to identify new potential products and projects. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager stays abreast of new technologies and processes and implements changes to improve the organization's mechanical engineering capabilities. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a director. The Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.
