Facilities Planning Manager leads the design and planning of building or refurbishment projects focused on effectively utilizing spaces and resources to support the organization's physical facility and space needs. Evaluates current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and conduct feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planning Manager develops designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Directs the development of cost estimates of labor, materials, and services used for planning, budgeting, and contracting. Additionally, Facilities Planning Manager establishes project plans and a project governance framework to oversee construction and installation activities. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Facilities Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
