Requirements and Responsibilities

Computer Operations Director oversees all aspects of an organization's computer operations department. Develops standardized operating procedures and policies to effectively operate and maintain computer systems and peripherals. Being a Computer Operations Director evaluates and improves the efficacy of computer operations, backup processes, system monitors, and server availability to ensure goals are met. Collaborates with department managers to understand and integrate current and future needs into operating plans. Additionally, Computer Operations Director is responsible for ensuring computer operations activities meet pre-established production targets and maintain operating budgets. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Computer Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Computer Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
