Requirements and Responsibilities |
Provides leadership, innovation, and oversight for an organization's tax function. Leads the overall strategic plan and program development. Provides leadership to a team responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, statements, and other reports at required intervals. Ensures compliance with all tax regulations while working to minimize tax liability and maximize after-tax profits. Researches strategies for minimizing future tax liabilities. Monitors changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and updates policies and procedures as needed. May require a master's degree in accounting or related discipline. Typically reports to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business. Has acquired the business acumen and leadership experience to become a top function or division head. |
