Tool Design Engineer II
Also referred to as: Tool Design Engineer II, Intermediate Tool Design Engineer, Tool Specifications/Design Engineer II
Requirements and Responsibilities
Designs a wide variety of tools consistent with standard tool configuration, including cutting and forming tools. Determines tool specifications and requirements by interfacing with manufacturing staff to determine the best design for the tool. Performs calculations to determine exact dimensions, materials required and cost of the tools. Works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience.
