Claims Supervisor I

Requirements and Responsibilities
Supervises activities in the claims department. Oversees the investigation of insurance claims for personal, property, or casualty loss based on coverage, appraisal, and verifiable damage. Interacts with claimants and oversees the review of claim forms and other records to determine insurance coverage. Supervises negotiations to settle claims out-of-court up to a predetermined limit. Refers claims exceeding authorized limits to next level of supervision. May make recommendations for the settlement of claims. A level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of the team processes.
