Requirements and Responsibilities
Oversees and directs a team of metallurgical engineers. Monitors the design and process of manufacturing metals from ores and for the operation of the related production equipment. Reviews analysis and test results, and provides technical assistance and recommendations as needed. Determines resources needed and obtains technical support to drive continuous improvement. Investigates and resolves metallurgical issues to improve process efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a director. Typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
