Tool Design Engineer III

Requirements and Responsibilities
Designs a wide variety of tools consistent with standard tool configuration, including cutting and forming tools. Studies blueprints and determines tool specifications and requirements by interfacing with manufacturing staff to determine the best design for the tool. Performs calculations to determine exact dimensions, materials required and cost of the tools. Works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements. May submit bids to purchase tools as a cost saving alternative. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.
