Environmental & Employee Safety Specialist V

Requirements and Responsibilities
Responsible for protecting employees from hazardous workplace conditions. Conducts regular inspections and audits to identify hazardous conditions and implements processes and policies to ensure worker health and safety. Evaluates projects to identify potential risks or hazards and recommends protective actions, equipment, or controls. Takes samples and measurements to evaluate conditions and coordinates the removal of hazardous materials, equipment, or conditions. Trains and educates employees about safety policies, programs, and regulatory requirements to ensure awareness of environmental hazards and workplace safety. Investigates accidents and worker concerns to identify root causes and recommend processes and controls to correct issues and prevent recurrence. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Typically requires 10+ years of related experience.
