| Requirements and Responsibilities |
| Manages an organization's environmental health and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental standards and regulations. Develops processes to identify and assess risks associated with hazardous materials, waste disposal, and industrial processes, mitigate impacts to the community, and ensure regulatory compliance. Evaluates and reviews environmental accident reports to identify root causes and develop solutions. Ensures compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and requirements that impact the organization. Develops training and education protocols to promote awareness of environmental policies, regulatory requirements, and organizational standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
