Requirements and Responsibilities For Meteorologist
Analyzes meteorological data gathered by satellites and radar to prepare reports and forecasts for the public. Studies and interprets photographs, maps, synoptic reports, and charts in order to forecast long- and short-range weather conditions. May require an advanced degree and at least 5 years of related experience. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
