Job Description

Optometrist
|
|
Examines patient's eyes to detect vision problems, diseases, and other abnormal conditions. Prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses, and may prescribe drugs to treat eye disorders. Requires a bachelor's degree, graduation from an accredited optometry school, and must pass clinical state board examinations. May require at least 2-4 years of experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. May report to a medical director.
