Diabetes Educator
|
|
Educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area and certification as a registered nurse. Typically required to be a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
