Geologist IV
|
|
Researches the formation, dissolution, and content of rock layers. Researches the effects of internal pressures, heat, water, pollution, and erosion. Studies variations in rock formations and densities to identify new mineral deposits. Estimates depth, quality and vastness of deposits. Tests mineral quality and purity to determine feasibility of mining. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 6-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
