Requirements and Responsibilities

Underwriter (P/C) I analyzes and reviews inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, etc. to accept or reject renewal/new property and casualty policy applications. Decides on appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. Being an Underwriter (P/C) I provides customer services regarding underwriting processes and decisions. May communicate with field agents to gather additional information or to explain underwriting decisions. Additionally, Underwriter (P/C) I typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Underwriter (P/C) I work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be an Underwriter (P/C) I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.
