UI/Usability Design Manager manages a team of designers that apply user-centered design principles to improve the workflow, expand the functionality, and enhance the visual appeal of websites and mobile apps. Oversees the gathering of requirements from users and stakeholders and guides development of the overall information architecture. Being an UI/Usability Design Manager leads the creation of new features based on the results from user research and usability testing. Requires knowledge of visual design and wireframing/prototyping tools. Additionally, UI/Usability Design Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The UI/Usability Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an UI/Usability Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
