Requirements and Responsibilities

Patient Relations Manager manages the patient relations function of a healthcare organization to deliver patient liaison services and patient-centric care. Develops materials and optimizes processes to provide information and resources to patients and families. Being a Patient Relations Manager coaches staff on best practices for responding to patient and family questions, concerns, and issues and to resolve escalated problems. Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams to make recommendations for improvements to the patient experience. Additionally, Patient Relations Manager ensures that all applicable regulations and patient information privacy policies are implemented and followed. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Relations Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Patient Relations Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
