PACS Administrator
Also referred to as: PACS Administrator, Picture Archiving and Communications System Administrator
Requirements and Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily operations of the Picture Archiving and Communications Systems. Oversees equipment maintenance and systems testing, upgrading, and installing. Acts as a liaison between the Radiology department and customers. Maintains positive vendor relationship. Requires a bachelor's degree, certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT),. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
