Medical Records Supervisor

Requirements and Responsibilities
Supervises the day to day duties in the medical records department for a healthcare organization. Monitors the coding and overall maintenance of records and tracks data related to patient status. Ensures that all health information management practices meet JCAHO and state standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. Typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
