Medical Records Supervisor

Requirements and Responsibilities
Supervises and performs duties in the medical records department for a healthcare organization. Monitors the coding and overall maintenance of records and tracks data related to patient status. Ensures that all health information management practices meet JCAHO and state standards. Oversees budgeting, quality improvement, hiring, evaluation and supervision, etc. May require RHIA/RHIT certification. Requires a bachelor's degree or in a related area. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
