Medical Records Coding Manager
Also referred to as: Medical Records Coding Manager, Health Information Management Coding Manager, Manager of Medical Records Coding
Requirements and Responsibilities
Supervises and trains coding staff to ensure that the hospital receives appropriate reimbursement and conforms to applicable guidelines and regulations. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the coding process. Knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding required. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. May require AAPC or AHIMA coding certification. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
