Requirements and Responsibilities

Medical Chart Compliance Auditor conducts medical record audits in hospitals, clinics, physician's offices, and other parent care facilities to ensure that documentation meets required standards and regulations. Maintains up-to-date information on all the standards set by JCAHO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other entities relating to medical records. Being a Medical Chart Compliance Auditor reviews patient accounts for coding accuracy and completeness. Prepares audit reports that highlight deficiencies and suggest solutions. Additionally, Medical Chart Compliance Auditor may require certification as CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification May require an associate degree. May require certification as CPC (Certified Professional Coder). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Chart Compliance Auditor works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Chart Compliance Auditor typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.
