Requirements and Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineer IV designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineer IV identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer IV conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Mechanical Engineer IV work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Mechanical Engineer IV typically requires 7+ years of related experience.
