Requirements and Responsibilities

Market Access Director directs and oversees a team responsible for creating and executing comprehensive market access strategies. Leads the design, development, and implementation of an integrated marketing strategy to deliver a strong product value proposition with the end user in mind. Being a Market Access Director oversees the creation of marketing materials that communicate the unique attributes of the drug/medical device to external stakeholders including payer and trade channel recommendations. Analyzes strategic recommendations for pricing, patient access, reimbursement, and health systems strategy to support expanding the accessibility of the drug/medical device. Additionally, Market Access Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Market Access Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Market Access Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
