Maintenance Planning Manager manages and designs plans and programs for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Ensures an effective system for processing and tracking work orders is in place. Being a Maintenance Planning Manager oversees inspection and survey procedures to create an effective preventative maintenance system. Communicates with technicians, engineers, operations, and other managers to ensure stakeholders are satisfied with maintenance planning. Additionally, Maintenance Planning Manager creates planning and scheduling procedures to establish the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Also responsible for oversight of spare parts management, budget monitoring, and reporting. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a director or head of unit/department. The Maintenance Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Maintenance Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
