Requirements and Responsibilities

Library Services Supervisor supervises staff and coordinates operations for the acquisition, classification, maintenance, licensing, and distribution of print and digital materials to meet the information needs of library users. Assists with researching, reviewing, and identifying new materials to develop the library's collection. Being a Library Services Supervisor processes orders and subscriptions for new materials. Oversees support and service resources, resolves problems, and responds to requests to ensure that groups and individuals can access requested materials. Additionally, Library Services Supervisor coordinates maintenance and operations of library systems and tools. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Library Services Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Library Services Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
