Head of Residency Program oversees the administration of the physician residency program of a healthcare organization. Develops and implements program policies, goals, and objectives that ensure compliance with accreditation standards set by governing bodies such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Being a Head of Residency Program collaborates with faculty members and other stakeholders to develop and deliver a comprehensive curriculum covering the medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies required for physicians. Develops evaluation mechanisms and processes to conduct regular assessments, provide feedback, and support residents' well-being and academic progress. Additionally, Head of Residency Program participates in the recruitment and selection process of resident physicians. Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice Medicine. Typically reports to senior management. The Head of Residency Program manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Head of Residency Program typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.
