Requirements and Responsibilities

Emergency Dispatch Supervisor oversees a team responding to calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance and dispatching law enforcement, fire fighting, or rescue units. Mentors dispatchers and manages escalated issues. Being an Emergency Dispatch Supervisor coordinates training on message codes, situational protocols, and differentiating routine, priority, and emergency messages. Ensures unit response details are thoroughly and correctly tracked. Additionally, Emergency Dispatch Supervisor administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of the team processes.
