Requirements and Responsibilities

Cyber Incident Response Manager manages the team responsible for investigating and responding to cyber incidents. Administers all aspects of technical incident response from initiation to conclusion. Being a Cyber Incident Response Manager assesses the nature of the incident and determines what resources are needed to resolve the situation. Manages and coordinates all efforts to contain and resolve the incident. Additionally, Cyber Incident Response Manager reviews reports and other documentation to make recommendations on improvements to eliminate risks. Ensures established policies, procedures, and methodologies are being followed. Collaborates with stakeholders to establish and ensure consistent response practices and prioritization of security events. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science. Typically reports to a director. The Cyber Incident Response Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Cyber Incident Response Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
