Requirements and Responsibilities

Consumer Lending Director directs the consumer loan department of a financial institution or other organization. Oversees the research, development, communication, and implementation of consumer lending policies. Being a Consumer Lending Director analyzes lending data to identify risks, trends, and areas for improvement. Ensures lending volume and profit goals are met. Additionally, Consumer Lending Director develops a productive staff with training and coaching. Monitors compliance with federal and state lending regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Consumer Lending Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Consumer Lending Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
