Requirements and Responsibilities

CAD Senior Manager directs and oversees an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Provides technical leadership for benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, testing protocols, and optimization. Being a CAD Senior Manager develops CAD methodology, guidelines, and standards to increase efficiency. Ensures departmental standards for software, techniques, and tools to prepare technical drawings are current and effective. Additionally, CAD Senior Manager reviews performance on projects. Leads new CAD initiatives and assesses potential new uses for CAD within the organization. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Manages resource planning and decision-making. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The CAD Senior Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a CAD Senior Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
