Upholsterer builds or rebuilds furniture by covering with materials such as leather, cotton or suede. Repairs wooden furniture pieces and refinishes surfaces. Being an Upholsterer may require a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Upholsterer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an Upholsterer typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
