Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit

Requirements and Responsibilities
Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in psychiatric unit. Conducts patient intake assessments, develops mental health care plans in conjunction with psychiatrist, and administers medications. Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and records observations of behavioral changes in patient medical records. Helps family members to understand the nature of the condition, and teaches them how to maintain a healthy environment for the patient. Requires graduation from an approved nursing program. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires a state license to practice. Years of experience may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
