Requirements and Responsibilities

Metallurgical Engineer V designs and initiates processes for the manufacturing of metals from ores and for the operation of the related production equipment. Performs analysis and tests to aid in the development of new and improved metals and alloys as well as their applications to various products. Being a Metallurgical Engineer V may require a master's degree in engineering or related field. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Metallurgical Engineer V works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. To be a Metallurgical Engineer V typically requires 10+ years of related experience.
