Requirements and Responsibilities

Lather applies metal or gypsum lath to walls, ceilings, or frameworks to form a support base for plaster coatings. Follows blueprint specifications for dimensions and tolerances. Being a Lather requires a high school diploma or equivalent in the field or in a related area. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Lather works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Lather typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.
